ChatGPT remains the most popular AI assistant globally, but the company's market share has fallen slightly.
More than three years since its release, ChatGPT still sits at the apex of the global AI assistants market. But, according to the Sensor Tower State of AI Report 2026, its market share fell below 50% for the first time.
As of late May, ChatGPT's share fell to 46.4% from well above 50%. Other AI assistants like Google's Gemini now have a market share of 27.7%, while Anthropic's Claude has grown to 10.3%.
Grok, Perplexity, DeepSeek, and Meta AI's market shares make up the rest. Despite the rising competition, ChatGPT is expected to stay on top as many users explore various options.
