New modes in ChatGPT and GPT-5.6 models by OpenAI

Now, the competition in artificial intelligence goes far beyond chatbots that just give answers to questions. Nowadays, there is an opportunity to create agents that can perform actual work-related functions and increase efficiency.

Recently, OpenAI introduced GPT-5.6 series of artificial intelligence models, such as Sol, Terra, and Luna models. Each of these models is made for various levels of performance, speed, and cost. In addition to these models, the firm released ChatGPT Work – AI assistant that can perform full-scale office work tasks instead of answering queries only.

ChatGPT Work is based on GPT-5.6 model and features Codex, which is a coding assistant from OpenAI. The user can toggle between Chat, Work, and Codex modes via desktop, web, and mobile interface.Work mode links up with commonly used applications for business, including Slack, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. Users can organize their emails, calendar, messages, documents, and other work activities in one place.

In its demonstration, OpenAI presented multiple instances of ChatGPT Work, such as the following:

Scan emails, Slack messages, and Google Calendar and summarize all tasks for the day with automatic reminders;

Use event photos, tables, and notes to make a LinkedIn post and website;

Create a presentation, dashboard, and table using data from emails, tables, and Slack messages.

According to OpenAI, the GPT-5.6 models are more efficient and less expensive to operate than the earlier models. OpenAI also reported that their latest models perform better than Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 models using less computational resources; however, this claim was not validated externally.In terms of privacy, OpenAI has stated that it doesn’t train any of its AI models with users' data. The memory feature available in ChatGPT is just used to store user settings and contexts, which will make the next interaction personalized. In addition, privacy is one of the top priorities of OpenAI, particularly for enterprise clients.

As for Codex integration with ChatGPT, it is in progress right now, and more updates will be introduced in the future.
